After 3 played minutes Fotbal Club Vaslui got a freekick which was hit by Toader Muncelean. A collision led to Fotbal Club Vaslui getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Toader Muncelean hit a great ball. 7 minutes into the match, F.C. YKE's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filip Aanicăi. Helmuth Duckadam made an important save on a dangerous shot by Filip Aanicăi in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute Fotbal Club Vaslui were awarded a corner. Radu Ispas went to the cornerflag to take it. 18 minutes into the game, F.C. YKE's Petre Romanescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andrei Oloieru made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With an all-out effort, Fotbal Club Vaslui's Helmuth Duckadam threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Filip Aanicăi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by F.C. YKE's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Radu Ispas was slow to take the kick. During this time Fotbal Club Vaslui's players had a chance to rest. After 24 minutes of play, Fotbal Club Vaslui's Filip Aanicăi made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Helmuth Duckadam was left in no man's land by his defense there! Louis-Philippe von Fallersleben fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Helmuth Duckadam having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, F.C. YKE's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filip Aanicăi. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filip Aanicăi in the 30th minute of play forced F.C. YKE's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Helmuth Duckadam managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Fotbal Club Vaslui's Toader Muncelean fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 38 minutes, Filip Aanicăi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fotbal Club Vaslui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filip Aanicăi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Filip Aanicăi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Filip Aanicăi came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Fotbal Club Vaslui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filip Aanicăi couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

In the 51st match minute, Fotbal Club Vaslui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcu Piţurcă to maneuver through the defense. In the 52nd minute Petre Romanescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrei Oloieru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgar Oblemenco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Andrei Oloieru made a huge save. 56 minutes into the match, F.C. YKE's goal looked a bit too open when Filip Aanicăi came free, but Helmuth Duckadam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Petre Romanescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrei Oloieru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petre Romanescu in the 66th minute of the match. After 67 minutes, Edgar Oblemenco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C. YKE and the Fotbal Club Vaslui players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 67th minute, Edgar Oblemenco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filip Aanicăi in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Helmuth Duckadam saved F.C. YKE from getting behind. After having played for 71 minutes, Filip Aanicăi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Filip Aanicăi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. F.C. YKE's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Filip Aanicăi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. In the 89thth minute of the game Toader Muncelean who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but F.C. YKE's Helmuth Duckadam was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 93 minutes into the match, F.C. YKE's goal looked a bit too open when Filip Aanicăi came free, but Helmuth Duckadam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. F.C. YKE's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
