After a defensive mix-up in HELVETIA's zone, Sílvio Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mazinho Fernandez came out of the goal and Sílvio Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fernando Vergílio got free with Almir Miranda in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 47 minutes into the match, Usain Bolt notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of HELVETIA's Mazinho Fernandez. Mazinho Fernandez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Mazinho Fernandez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6.
