Panait Agrigoroaiei didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Gigi Bobei sped through Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Valer Nuțu. Valer Nuțu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Codruț Macaneață went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Iurie Bănățeanu took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valer Nuțu. Valer Nuțu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 16th minute Silver Phoenix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valer Nuțu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Bosioc came free, but Valer Onișoru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iurie Bănățeanu during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 32nd match minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iurie Bănățeanu to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Silver Phoenix got a free kick in the 45th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Petre Benga to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Octav Puiu came free, but Valer Onișoru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Codruț Macaneață came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Valer Nuțu could save by the left post. Valer Nuțu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iurie Bănățeanu in the 62nd minute of play. Aristide Juverdeanu charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aristide Juverdeanu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Aristide Juverdeanu hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudiu Bosioc in the 70th minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Valer Onișoru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valer Nuțu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iurie Bănățeanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Iurie Bănățeanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valer Nuțu was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Iurie Bănățeanu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 76thth minute tested the skills of Valer Nuțu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Valer Nuțu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gigi Bobei in the 77th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gigi Bobei in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Valer Nuțu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 79 minutes into the match, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Valer Nuțu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gigi Bobei. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Lucian Şimonca got a free kick in the 84th minute. Octav Puiu hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. A collision led to PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Gigi Bobei hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Cristinel Uncheşelu got a free kick in the 95th minute.
