The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of CA Boca Jrs booed when Bendito Sea El Fernet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosme Mikelar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniele Ubriaco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Maule having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, CA Boca Jrs's goal looked a bit too open when Baldomiro Guerrero came free, but Diego Tassotti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Dennis Ruzzi fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CA Boca Jrs's protests and gave Dennis Ruzzi a yellow card for diving instead. Eustaquio Tiadoro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 26 minutes into the game, Ettore Gelsomini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CA Boca Jrs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bendito Sea El Fernet the free kick. A collision led to CA Boca Jrs getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Ettore Gelsomini hit a great ball. After having played for 27 minutes, Marcial Rosio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bendito Sea El Fernet's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcial Rosio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Diego Tassotti didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eustaquio Tiadoro went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Diego Tassotti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eustaquio Tiadoro, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Baldomiro Guerrero's late challenge caught a CA Boca Jrs's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baldomiro Guerrero helped the player get up and apologised. After 36 played minutes Bendito Sea El Fernet got a freekick which was hit by Baldomiro Guerrero. The CA Boca Jrs players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bendito Sea El Fernet were winning 0-1.

The tension between the CA Boca Jrs and the Bendito Sea El Fernet players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th minute, Arrigo Giancola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diego Tassotti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcial Rosio in the 59th minute of play. Mario Tipi scored 0-5 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Diego Tassotti, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eustaquio Tiadoro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Bendito Sea El Fernet supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bendito Sea El Fernet would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
