To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 10 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's Don Merlot sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lionel Paly narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Timo Courtois took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Dové, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Timo Courtois made an important save on a dangerous shot by Georges Gladu in the 12th minute. Téo Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lionel Paly didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Don Merlot went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pirmin Jäggi got free with Timo Courtois in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. SSV Ulm 1846's Afonso Silveira quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ivan Dové, made in the 30th minute of the game. Lionel Paly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberigo Sessa, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. FC Wil 1900's Téo Rosa managed to work through SSV Ulm 1846's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Téo Rosa dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. SSV Ulm 1846's Timo Courtois played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Rosa in the 40th minute of play. Téo Rosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 48 minutes SSV Ulm 1846's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Emilio De Luca who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on FC Wil 1900's corner Emilio De Luca fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Timo Courtois quite easily take care of the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Don Merlot made a kick off. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Wil 1900's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sven-Olof Lilja was slow to take the kick. During this time SSV Ulm 1846's players had a chance to rest. Sven-Olof Lilja made a great header on SSV Ulm 1846's corner, it was just that FC Wil 1900's Lionel Paly managed to reach the ball for a save. At last the ball reached Sotiris Alexandropoulos at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of FC Wil 1900. 0-3. A collision led to SSV Ulm 1846 getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Sven-Olof Lilja hit a great ball. After 94 minutes of play, FC Wil 1900's Pirmin Jäggi made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Timo Courtois was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SSV Ulm 1846 had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
