In the 15th minute Téo Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Heyckendorf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Academica Pulheim's Lutz Golke in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 29th match minute, FC Wil 1900 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnny Della Rossa to maneuver through the defense. Lutz Golke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Lionel Paly tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paul Heyckendorf didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emery Heller went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Lionel Paly made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lutz Golke in the 41st minute of play. When the match clock showed 43 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Alex Mansilha sped through FC Wil 1900's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lionel Paly. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alex Mansilha to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lutz Golke in the 55th minute of play forced FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Lionel Paly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the match, FC Wil 1900's goal looked a bit too open when Joachim Kretschmer came free, but Lionel Paly reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
