Thanks to some nice moves Murilo Neto could shoot a difficult shot in the 15th minute, which Karl-Axel Jansson however easily saved by the left post. 17 minutes into the match, Academia Santista CIMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Alfonso Leon came free, but Karl-Axel Jansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karl-Axel Jansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Leon in the 20th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Mané Garrinchinha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Academia Santista CIMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mané Garrinchinha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Academia Santista CIMZ's Karl-Axel Jansson got control of the ball when Murilo Neto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Academia Santista CIMZ's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alfonso Leon 24 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfonso Leon in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Karl-Axel Jansson saved Academia Santista CIMZ from getting behind. In the 29th minute of the game Osvaldo de Carvalho made a throw-in which Franz Anlohse played forward. With a little luck, Academia Santista CIMZ's Karl-Axel Jansson got control of the ball when Alfonso Leon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Murilo Neto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Karl-Axel Jansson made a huge save. 33 minutes into the game, one of E.C.Pelotas:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. E.C.Pelotas:s Sobhy Paredes showed great skill when he stopped Téo Loyola:s penalty. Academia Santista CIMZ's Karl-Axel Jansson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Academia Santista CIMZ from getting a goal against them. Alfonso Leon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Academia Santista CIMZ booed when E.C.Pelotas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo de Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd minute Mané Garrinchinha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sobhy Paredes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Karl-Axel Jansson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 45 minutes, Zhang Chen Chuan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Academia Santista CIMZ and the E.C.Pelotas players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind E.C.Pelotas's goalkeeper Sobhy Paredes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
In the 50th match minute, Academia Santista CIMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruy Motta to maneuver through the defense. Sobhy Paredes came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Academia Santista CIMZ's Ruy Motta. But to his dismay, Ruy Motta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 67th minute, Domingos Da Guía hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Karl-Axel Jansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murilo Neto in the 69th minute of play. When Luke Modrić came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the E.C.Pelotas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luke Modrić couldn't finish the play. 75 minutes into the match, E.C.Pelotas's goal looked a bit too open when Mané Garrinchinha came free, but Sobhy Paredes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luke Modrić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Karl-Axel Jansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute E.C.Pelotas were awarded a corner. Ataulfo Macho went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led E.C.Pelotas's Ataulfo Macho to fire away a dangerous shot which Karl-Axel Jansson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Academia Santista CIMZ getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Cafu Vargas hit a great ball. Mané Garrinchinha who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Sobhy Paredes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. For all the effort they put into the match, the Academia Santista CIMZ players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for E.C.Pelotas.
