The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when A.A. Francana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. The audience thought a goal was coming when Krisztián Véber got free with Renan Melo in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Renan Melo made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Lei Feng Yan sent off a good shot on target. Krisztián Véber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Renan Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Renan Melo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lucio Siekkötter. In the 24th minute Renato Augusto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renan Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Renan Melo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lucio Siekkötter in the 25th minute. In the 30th minute of the match, Lucio Siekkötter got a very nice opportunity to score, but Renan Melo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Bartosz Bereszynski fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.A. Francana's protests and gave Bartosz Bereszynski a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes A.A. Francana's zone, Lucio Siekkötter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Renan Melo came out of the goal and Lucio Siekkötter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A.A. Francana's Renan Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Siekkötter in the 58th minute of play. Renan Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucio Siekkötter in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Esen Sanal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aykut Canel. Renan Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renato Augusto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Lucio Siekkötter managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucio Siekkötter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renan Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Krisztián Véber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renan Melo having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renato Augusto in the 76th minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Renan Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute, Aykut Canel made a precise shot to the right of Esen Sanal. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1.
