A sloppy throw-in by Gonçalo da Silveira in the 5th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Caldebrazza's Anísio Carvalho. 6 minutes into the game, AKI CORINTHIANS's Vânderson Castro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alessandro Linares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hugo Lucian in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Orlando Nogueira saved AKI CORINTHIANS from getting behind. 15 minutes into the match, AKI CORINTHIANS's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Lucian came free, but Orlando Nogueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute, Hugo Lucian ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Orlando Nogueira was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. AKI CORINTHIANS's Orlando Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Lucian in the 20th minute of play. Zé Roberto Moreno struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Orlando Nogueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caldebrazza. 32 minutes into the match, AKI CORINTHIANS's Ciro Brasil sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alessandro Linares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 37th minute Ciro Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alessandro Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Lucian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Orlando Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute Ciro Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alessandro Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albino Ibar made a kick off. Hugo Lucian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Orlando Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Caldebrazza's Hugo Lucian sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Orlando Nogueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciro Brasil got free with Alessandro Linares in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game. One of Caldebrazza:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AKI CORINTHIANS:s goal. The goalkeeper, Alessandro Linares, was totally fooled by AKI CORINTHIANS's Alfred Schrijns, who 64 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 69th minute, Hugo Lucian got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Caldebrazza's Stergios Stefanoulis was substituted for Hugo Lucian. 72 minutes into the match, Caldebrazza's Stergios Stefanoulis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Orlando Nogueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Albino Ibar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Alessandro Linares made a huge save. Caldebrazza's Alessandro Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciro Brasil in the 81st minute of play. In the 81st minute, Ciro Brasil ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alessandro Linares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. AKI CORINTHIANS's Orlando Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stergios Stefanoulis in the 84th minute of play. Orlando Nogueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stergios Stefanoulis's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Romeu Tinoco kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stergios Stefanoulis in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Orlando Nogueira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 99 minutes, Alf Bålström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AKI CORINTHIANS and the Caldebrazza players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luís Paulo Faria shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The AKI CORINTHIANS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AKI CORINTHIANS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
