The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Branislav Velchevski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Humberto Meder in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the game, Mateusz Marajda recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Branislav Velchevski. Mateusz Marajda showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Emil Arendarski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Prosperi, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Humberto Meder kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Potrero's zone, Miguel Prosperi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emil Arendarski came out of the goal and Miguel Prosperi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emil Arendarski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miguel Prosperi went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Emil Arendarski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 22nd minute of the match. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Esteban Iztal was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Emil Arendarski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Mariano Orlo managed to get in a good position for a shot. C. A. Potrero's supporters rose to their feet, but Mariano Orlo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Branislav Velchevski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mateusz Marajda might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Branislav Velchevski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mateusz Marajda ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Elpidio Francis sped through C. A. Potrero's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emil Arendarski. 41 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mateusz Marajda. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Mateusz Marajda took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Branislav Velchevski to make any attempt to save it. When Mateusz Marajda came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the C. A. Potrero fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mateusz Marajda couldn't finish the play. C. A. Potrero made a substitution. Wladyslaw Popowicz replaced Pastor Montrell. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Karol Borowski made the kick off in the second half. Branislav Velchevski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Silvino in the 55th minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Mateusz Marajda came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute Karol Borowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Branislav Velchevski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateusz Marajda in the 75th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 76 minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wladyslaw Popowicz who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Ulises Bernad got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Branislav Velchevski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A sloppy throw-in by Humberto Meder in the 79th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Timoteo Basualdo. In the 85th minute Arnaldo Gabon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Arendarski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emil Arendarski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Francis in the 87th minute of play. Mariano Orlo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Branislav Velchevski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
