The audience thought a goal was coming when Pastor Ado got free with Rodriguinho Sousa in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Deilmison van Basten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmond Verdun read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. A hard shot 17 in the game by Emílio Terra from a close distance when the talented Rodriguinho Sousa managed to make a qualified save. ATHLETICO PRaiano's players were relieved. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Rameriz, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Errecaborda AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Deilmison van Basten came free, but Edmond Verdun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Valko De Hond in the 28th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ATHLETICO PRaiano's Robin van Persie. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Rameriz in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute of the match, Mauro Rameriz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rodriguinho Sousa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Deilmison van Basten struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Edmond Verdun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ATHLETICO PRaiano. After 40 minutes, Betão Marquez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ATHLETICO PRaiano and the Errecaborda AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 41st match minute, ATHLETICO PRaiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betão Marquez to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Tate in the 45th minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half ATHLETICO PRaiano were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Deilmison van Basten to make the kick off. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Edmond Verdun. Although Errecaborda AFC had been in control for most of the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano still came away with the win.
