Marko Ruskov might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manuel Campens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marko Ruskov ran back to his position shaking his head. Manuel Campens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marko Ruskov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bulgaria's Vitomir Starokin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Billy Goolen in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marko Ruskov in the 6th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Manuel Campens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10th minute Rafail Klenov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Campens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Rafail Klenov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manuel Campens. Belgium's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafail Klenov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. With an all-out effort, Belgium's Vitomir Starokin threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Armand Steenberghs, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Vitomir Starokin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Billy Goolen in the 20th minute of the match. Marko Ruskov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manuel Campens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 23rd minute of the match Bulgaria got a corner. Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ignat Nozharov ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Lachezar Kavaldzhiev got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Manuel Campens quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 27 minutes into the match, Bulgaria's goalkeeper Vitomir Starokin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Billy Goolen. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Billy Goolen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belgium's supporters rose to their feet, but Billy Goolen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitomir Starokin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 34th minute, Billy Goolen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mbaka Mbolu got free with Vitomir Starokin in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Bulgaria's Deyan Petrinski got a free kick in the 41st minute. Vitomir Starokin was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Kevin Debruyne. Naycho Dotzov kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Belgium made a substitution. Nicolas Hemeleers replaced Octave Soetemans. In the 47th minute, Naycho Dotzov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Vitomir Starokin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mbaka Mbolu's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. In the 63rd minute, Marko Ruskov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bulgaria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. In the 72nd minute, Marko Ruskov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bulgaria made a substitution. Rangel Parashkevov replaced Ignat Nozharov. Belgium's William Andries was substituted for Billy Goolen. When Belgium's Mbaka Mbolu in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bulgaria's goalie prevented a goal. Denimir Tzonkov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manuel Campens having to make a save. Manuel Campens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denimir Tzonkov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Bulgaria supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bulgaria would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
