Lei Feng Yan took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rodriguinho Sousa. Rodriguinho Sousa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 27th minute of the match S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a corner. ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardinho de Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Deilmison van Basten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lei Feng Yan in the 39th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goal looked a bit too open when Benedykt Pankiewicz came free, but Rodriguinho Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 44 minutes on the clock, Vitor Beckenbauer commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card.
