In the 6th minute, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mike van Kampen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Matos Velhos's goalkeeper Mike van Kampen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mike van Kampen came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by CERRO PORTEÑO's Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis. But to his dismay, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Mike van Kampen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute CERRO PORTEÑO were awarded a corner. Edgar Kensicki went to the cornerflag to take it. Mike van Kampen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute, Matos Velhos's Henrique Candal ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cãlin Damaschin. Cãlin Damaschin yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 35th minute, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis made a precise shot to the right of Mike van Kampen. Matos Velhos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After some careless play in the Matos Velhos defense, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mike van Kampen. The Matos Velhos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mike van Kampen should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis in the 42nd minute of play forced Matos Velhos's goalkeeper Mike van Kampen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 minutes, Edgar Kensicki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CERRO PORTEÑO and the Matos Velhos players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Matos Velhos getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Domingos Palmeira hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

In the 56th minute Adalberto Peres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cãlin Damaschin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mike van Kampen made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henrique Candal in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cãlin Damaschin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cãlin Damaschin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heigo Luiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Mike van Kampen made a huge save. In the 69th minute, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mike van Kampen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Nietlisbach in the 91st minute of play forced CERRO PORTEÑO's goalkeeper Cãlin Damaschin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Karl Nietlisbach notched a goal, 2-5, to the right of CERRO PORTEÑO's Cãlin Damaschin. Cãlin Damaschin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
