After a defensive mix-up in Lyon 69ers's zone, Charis Katydis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hercule Couret came out of the goal and Charis Katydis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lakis Megas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Beaune in the 11th minute of the match. Lakis Megas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tom Beaune, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 12 minutes into the game, Andreas Daskalakis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Hercule Couret was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 16th minute Marc Meister shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lakis Megas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hercule Couret showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andreas Daskalakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 21 minutes into the game, Charis Katydis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Hercule Couret was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. AFC Ajax's Lakis Megas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aloísio Lendaa in the 23rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aloísio Lendaa in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lakis Megas saved AFC Ajax from getting behind. With a little luck, Lyon 69ers's Hercule Couret got control of the ball when Filippos Kourabies tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andreas Daskalakis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Hercule Couret skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. AFC Ajax's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Filippos Kourabies in the 27th minute. Andreas Daskalakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Hercule Couret tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute, Tom Beaune hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 35 in the game by Andreas Daskalakis from a close distance when the talented Hercule Couret managed to make a qualified save. Lyon 69ers's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aloísio Lendaa in the 37th minute of play forced AFC Ajax's goalkeeper Lakis Megas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Lyon 69ers got a corner. AFC Ajax's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mathias Lecanu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mathias Lecanu made a great header on Lyon 69ers's corner, it was just that AFC Ajax's Lakis Megas managed to reach the ball for a save. If Charis Katydis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute, Marc Meister hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of AFC Ajax booed when Lyon 69ers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marc Meister didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andreas Daskalakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 50th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Andreas Daskalakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lyon 69ers's Hercule Couret played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charis Pomonis in the 66th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andreas Daskalakis in the 72nd minute of play forced Lyon 69ers's goalkeeper Hercule Couret to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hercule Couret took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kostas Kanonidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, Lyon 69ers's goal looked a bit too open when Charis Pomonis came free, but Hercule Couret reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AFC Ajax's Panos Thomaidis was substituted for Daniil Vouzas. Lakis Megas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aloísio Lendaa, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. The audience was convinced that Kostas Kanonidis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hercule Couret was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The AFC Ajax fans cheered their team off the field, for while Lyon 69ers had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
