After a rather tough play, FC Bruges's Thys Eli got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Ton Staarman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Antonio Eggers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alwin Baatenburg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thys Eli in the 14th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, PSV Eindhoven's goal looked a bit too open when Bastian Cuveliers came free, but Alwin Baatenburg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the game, Theo Tevreden was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PSV Eindhoven's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Bruges the free kick. In the 18th minute, Theo Tevreden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alwin Baatenburg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shen Shi Mo in the 19th minute of the match. Shen Shi Mo succeeded in the game's 19th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. In the 25th minute Bastian Cuveliers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alwin Baatenburg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alwin Baatenburg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thys Eli in the 28th minute of play. In the 35th minute Koen Buyck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alwin Baatenburg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 39 minutes of play, FC Bruges's Shen Shi Mo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alwin Baatenburg was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Shen Shi Mo in the 44th minute of play forced PSV Eindhoven's goalkeeper Alwin Baatenburg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bastian Cuveliers took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alwin Baatenburg. Alwin Baatenburg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Theo Tevreden was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Shen Shi Mo made a precise shot to the right of Alwin Baatenburg. PSV Eindhoven's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. PSV Eindhoven's Alwin Baatenburg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Koen Buyck in the 57th minute of play. Theo Tevreden hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Koen Buyck blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alwin Baatenburg having to make a save. In the 66th minute, Cedric Koenens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Theo Tevreden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Jasper Opdebeeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Theo Tevreden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Shen Shi Mo managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Bruges's supporters rose to their feet, but Shen Shi Mo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alwin Baatenburg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 76 minutes into the match, Shen Shi Mo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alwin Baatenburg. PSV Eindhoven's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Shen Shi Mo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. 79 minutes into the game, Shen Shi Mo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Alwin Baatenburg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Thys Eli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, PSV Eindhoven's Alwin Baatenburg got control of the ball when Thys Eli tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alwin Baatenburg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Koen Buyck, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Shen Shi Mo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Alwin Baatenburg made a huge save. When the final whistle sounded FC Bruges left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than PSV Eindhoven.
