Tomas Pando showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Libardo Fuentes in the 4th minute of the match. In the 7th minute, Nestor Ibaute got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 12 minutes into the game, Alberto Pineda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Deportivo Águila's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liga de Quito the free kick. In the 13th minute Viviano Basurto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Peña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cruz Guia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Peña having to interfere. Libardo Fuentes in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tomas Pando, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Liga de Quito's Delgado Larrinoa got a free kick in the 55th minute. Viviano Basurto received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ricardo Peña came out and tried to block the shot, but Viviano Basurto slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 66th minute. After having played for 68 minutes, Viviano Basurto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liga de Quito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Viviano Basurto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Liga de Quito getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Ugaitz Gerica hit a great ball. When Club Deportivo Águila's Libardo Fuentes in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
