Salomón Oyuela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saverio Niva in the 16th minute of the match. Salomón Oyuela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Recife in the 18th minute of play. When Roberto Manzur fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U.C.MILÁN's protests and gave Roberto Manzur a yellow card for diving instead. Roberto Manzur hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Greger Sandström's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Salomón Oyuela on his right side and into the goal. 20 minutes into the game it was 0-1. Santana Armada made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Botasso in the 23rd minute. The supporters of Vancouver Reds booed when U.C.MILÁN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Gouveia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Salomón Oyuela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Recife, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the game, Jesus Cousiño was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U.C.MILÁN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vancouver Reds the free kick. Jesus Cousiño kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Jesus Cousiño hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 40 minutes into the match, U.C.MILÁN's goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Recife came free, but Salomón Oyuela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salomón Oyuela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Niva in the 42nd minute of play. U.C.MILÁN's Roberto Manzur quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Saverio Niva, made in the 46th minute of the game.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Liberto Mowat stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Jose Maria Rossel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santana Armada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Santana Armada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liberto Mowat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vancouver Reds's Santana Armada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jose Maria Rossel in the 63rd minute of play. When Cristian Botasso came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the U.C.MILÁN fans jumped to their feet. Wágner Recife's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Salomón Oyuela read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Ferdinand in the 81st minute of play forced U.C.MILÁN's goalkeeper Salomón Oyuela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liberto Mowat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The U.C.MILÁN supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vancouver Reds's performance. The match ended with a win for Vancouver Reds.
