The coaching staff of Sjötorp IF protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Leonardo Åkerman had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Sjötorp IF:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AIK FOTBOLL:s goal. In the 17th minute, Karl-Johan Hammarström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Sjötorp IF's Greger Byström got control of the ball when Cesare De Vecchis tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd minute Blagojče Michalashvili shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Greger Byström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michael Ekrot hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, AIK FOTBOLL's Thamthada Zamanopoulos got a free kick in the 28th minute. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Gert Haeger took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Greger Byström to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
