The referee ignored Real Madrid's protests and gave Barnaba Cieslak a yellow card for diving instead. 24 minutes into the match, Real Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Teobald Werra came free, but Andrzej Jajko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Tadeusz Ferfecki in the 28th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by KS Olimpia Warszawa's Michal Zagrodny. When Damazy Dylla fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Madrid's protests and gave Damazy Dylla a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teobald Werra in the 33rd minute of play forced Real Madrid's goalkeeper Andrzej Jajko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 34 minutes, Eddie Vedder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
