The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rio Borrás the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Villel protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rio Borrás had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of Sporting Clube de Gaya booed when Villel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rio Borrás didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience held their breath when Tarcísio Peixoto in the 11th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Andrés Cainzos's left hand side. 12 minutes into the match, Fredy Montero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Andrés Cainzos. Villel's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fredy Montero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 15 minutes into the match, Villel's goal looked a bit too open when Fredy Montero came free, but Andrés Cainzos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, Cheche Manzano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Villel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Clube de Gaya the free kick. After 20 minutes of play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andrés Cainzos was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 24th minute of play forced Villel's goalkeeper Andrés Cainzos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrés Cainzos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fredy Montero in the 24th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Manuel Porto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Andrés Cainzos. Villel's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manuel Porto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. In the 30th minute, João Tinoco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Clube de Gaya fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. Evaristo Ruiz kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Andrés Cainzos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Tinoco in the 36th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Jorge Lisboa made a precise shot to the right of Andrés Cainzos. Villel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. In the 43rd minute João Tinoco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrés Cainzos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-9 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Evaristo Ruiz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Jorge Lisboa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Andrés Cainzos. That made the score 0-11 in the 62 minute of play. In the 67th play minute Fredy Montero came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Andrés Cainzos. 0-12. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aparício Silveira in the 73rd minute of play forced Villel's goalkeeper Andrés Cainzos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Manuel Porto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-15. 85 minutes into the game, Jorge Lisboa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-16. Andrés Cainzos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Villel's Andrés Cainzos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Lisboa in the 88th minute of play. Fidel Zafrilla hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Andrés Cainzos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Andrés Cainzos came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting Clube de Gaya's Manuel Porto. But to his dismay, Manuel Porto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-17. In the 98th minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Jorge Lisboa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Andrés Cainzos. Andrés Cainzos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-18. When the final whistle sounded Sporting Clube de Gaya left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Villel.
