The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Szombathely Squirrels was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vince Sós to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Lions United booed when Szombathely Squirrels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ottó Vámosi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lions United's Carel Weygaers got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Róbert Kormos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lennart Iwens, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Szombathely Squirrels's goal looked a bit too open when Mitch Hollandts came free, but Róbert Kormos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Valkeneers in the 22nd minute of play forced Szombathely Squirrels's goalkeeper Róbert Kormos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gillis Heirremans made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dénes Boross in the 29th minute. Róbert Kormos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jon Van Craesbeeck, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 35th minute, Vince Sós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Valkeneers in the 38th minute of play forced Szombathely Squirrels's goalkeeper Róbert Kormos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Lions United's goalkeeper Gillis Heirremans had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dénes Boross. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Szombathely Squirrels's Róbert Kormos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Valkeneers in the 54th minute of play. Mitch Hollandts came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Róbert Kormos could save by the left post. In the 56th match minute, Szombathely Squirrels was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ottó Vámosi to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Szombathely Squirrels's zone, Carel Weygaers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Róbert Kormos came out of the goal and Carel Weygaers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 60 minutes of play, Szombathely Squirrels's Ottó Vámosi made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gillis Heirremans was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vince Sós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Gillis Heirremans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Szombathely Squirrels fans' excitement grew in the 69th match minute when Szombathely Squirrels's Dénes Boross looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Vince Sós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gillis Heirremans having to interfere. 75 minutes into the match, Lions United's goal looked a bit too open when Ottó Vámosi came free, but Gillis Heirremans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Szombathely Squirrels booed when Lions United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul-Louis Van Caubergen didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dénes Boross in the 77th minute of play forced Lions United's goalkeeper Gillis Heirremans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 84 minutes, Dénes Boross managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dénes Boross was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paul-Louis Van Caubergen kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Dénes Boross fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gillis Heirremans having to interfere. Géza Gál sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gillis Heirremans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dénes Boross's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Szombathely Squirrels had played much better football throughout.
