The 27 de Mayo fans' excitement grew in the 9th match minute when 27 de Mayo's Germán Cano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 12 minutes, Tiago Corrêa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 27 de Mayo and the Itajaí Football Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of Itajaí Football Club:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of 27 de Mayo:s goal. When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, 27 de Mayo's Ponce Cruzado got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Paulo Mattos. After 19th play minutes Germán Cano shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Paulo Mattos and just under the crossbar into goal. Germán Cano in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Paulo Mattos, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The Itajaí Football Club fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Itajaí Football Club's Conrado Miranda looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Itajaí Football Club reached it. Conrado Miranda blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Falcão Leme having to make a save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Germán Cano to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Conrado Miranda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itajaí Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conrado Miranda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. During the 53rd minute of the match Tiago Corrêa completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Tiago Corrêa a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Tiago Corrêa kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After having played for 57 minutes, Germán Cano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 27 de Mayo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Germán Cano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paulo Mattos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. When Pedro Luís Alcântara fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 27 de Mayo's protests and gave Pedro Luís Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Itajaí Football Club booed when 27 de Mayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luís Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 de Mayo's Hélder Severo was substituted for Germán Cano. A collision led to 27 de Mayo getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. With a little luck, 27 de Mayo's Falcão Leme got control of the ball when Conrado Miranda tried to sneak it across the goal line. Itajaí Football Club's Paulo Mattos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélder Severo in the 90th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hélder Severo in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Mattos saved Itajaí Football Club from getting behind. In the 92ndth minute of the game Hélder Severo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itajaí Football Club's Paulo Mattos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 92 minutes, Hélder Severo made it 6-5 with a short kick to the right side. Itajaí Football Club's Paulo Mattos tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 27 de Mayo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
