Christer Waaler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jari Anzengruber went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Academica Pulheim's Dietrich Heppner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Academica Pulheim from getting a goal against them. Dietrich Heppner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan Vie, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After a rather tough play, Åsnes's Petter Vartdal got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 35th minute, Petter Vartdal fired away a free kick at the goal, but hit it at the wrong angle and it went over the crossbar. Åsnes were furious when Fredrik Hebnes was red carded, 39 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 42nd minute Jonathan Vie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dietrich Heppner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jari Anzengruber came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Academica Pulheim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jari Anzengruber couldn't finish the play. 44 minutes into the game, Alwin Korte was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Academica Pulheim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Åsnes the free kick. In the 44th match minute, Academica Pulheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alwin Korte to maneuver through the defense.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Conny Stober to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stefan Winitzki in the 52nd minute of play forced Åsnes's goalkeeper Christer Waaler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Academica Pulheim booed when Åsnes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Morten Sundseth didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a left leg Christer Waaler saved Åsnes from getting behind. Dietrich Heppner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathan Vie in the 65th minute of the match. Christer Waaler made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jari Anzengruber in the 68th minute. If Jonathan Vie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christer Waaler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conny Stober, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute Conny Stober shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christer Waaler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Academica Pulheim's Dietrich Heppner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Vie in the 91st minute of play. The Åsnes supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Academica Pulheim's performance. The match ended with a win for Academica Pulheim.
