The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 9 minutes into the game, Júlio Brasil cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Serginho Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 13th minute, Joel Quadros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ramiro Bertassi was out of position in the 14 minute of play, and Toninho Goiano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Toninho Goiano really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 17th minute, William Guerreiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Benê Amorim notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's Ramiro Bertassi. Ramiro Bertassi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 35 played minutes MINEIROS got a freekick which was hit by Joel Quadros. 37 minutes into the match, CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's Júlio Brasil sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Serginho Taffarel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 38 minutes into the match, MINEIROS's goal looked a bit too open when Silas Siqueira came free, but Serginho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Toninho Goiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Ramiro Bertassi made a huge save. Silas Siqueira struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Serginho Taffarel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Benê Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. MINEIROS's Hugo Albuquerque got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ramiro Bertassi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Quadros in the 61st minute of the match. The supporters of CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE booed when MINEIROS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Gaspar didn't get a good kick on the ball. MINEIROS made a substitution. Nico de Mendonça replaced Joel Quadros. MINEIROS's supporters rose to their feet, but Toninho Goiano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramiro Bertassi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of MINEIROS booed when CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edinho Aparecido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramiro Bertassi came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by MINEIROS's Toninho Goiano. But to his dismay, Toninho Goiano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's Ramiro Bertassi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nico de Mendonça in the 92nd minute of play. MINEIROS's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
