Vinícius Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Genílson Severo in the 36th minute of the match. After 41st play minutes Luiz Paulo Fantini shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Thiago Dantas and just under the crossbar into goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tostão Lago in the 46th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Vinícius Macedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Cruzeiro Esporte Clube made a substitution. Perivaldo Valle replaced Tarcisio Goiano.
