The supporters of Lapachito booed when San Martin de Tucuman was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matias Eate didn't get a good kick on the ball. San Martin de Tucuman's Rafael Roldanillo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save San Martin de Tucuman from getting a goal against them. Orlando Tajo hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. A collision led to Lapachito getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Aureliano Telesforo hit a great ball. 34 minutes into the match, Lapachito's goal looked a bit too open when Gregorio Atarrabi came free, but Eulalio Casado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Primitivo Abancens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Rafael Roldanillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Lapachito's goal looked a bit too open when Efrain Sindo came free, but Eulalio Casado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paulino Felipo's late challenge caught a San Martin de Tucuman's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulino Felipo helped the player get up and apologised. After 46 played minutes Lapachito got a freekick which was hit by Aureliano Telesforo. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Efrain Sindo to make the kick off. With a little luck, Lapachito's Eulalio Casado got control of the ball when Efrain Sindo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eulalio Casado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregorio Atarrabi, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Amadeo Vincent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. After 66 played minutes Lapachito got a freekick which was hit by Herminio Erruki. 67 minutes into the game, Claudio Hondo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. San Martin de Tucuman's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lapachito the free kick. Nestor Marques struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Rafael Roldanillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lapachito. Eulalio Casado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gregorio Atarrabi in the 88th minute. Gregorio Atarrabi took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eulalio Casado. Eulalio Casado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. When the referee blew the final whistle, Lapachito could leave the field as winners, despite San Martin de Tucuman having more of the ball for most of the match.
