After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Santiago's Macías Camazon got a free kick in the 3rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Club Deportivo Santiago's zone, Mark Diaz de León stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leandro Candina came out of the goal and Mark Diaz de León tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mark Diaz de León in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leandro Candina saved Club Deportivo Santiago from getting behind. Leandro Candina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mark Diaz de León in the 11th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albin Pumaraboli in the 15th minute of play forced Club Deportivo Santiago's goalkeeper Leandro Candina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mark Diaz de León in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leandro Candina prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 19th match minute, Club Deportivo Santiago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xusto Robles to maneuver through the defense. Leandro Candina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Diaz de León, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Jose Maria Villaseñor hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Club Deportivo Santiago's Peter Sardaneta got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xavies Hubieta during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Club Deportes La Serena booed when Club Deportivo Santiago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavies Hubieta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leandro Candina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Alberto Fenieux in the 29th minute of the match. Leandro Candina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Diaz de León in the 32nd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Rogerio Recalde had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leandro Candina. Club Deportivo Santiago's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rogerio Recalde was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Francisco Alberto Fenieux charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francisco Alberto Fenieux the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 40 played minutes Club Deportes La Serena got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Alberto Fenieux. The supporters of Club Deportivo Santiago booed when Club Deportes La Serena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albin Pumaraboli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Club Deportes La Serena's Prudentio Telaeche played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Navarro Valdero in the 44th minute of play. Club Deportivo Santiago's Navarro Valdero got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Xusto Robles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Prudentio Telaeche read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The Club Deportivo Santiago players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Club Deportes La Serena were winning 0-1.

In the 52nd minute of the match Club Deportivo Santiago got a corner. Club Deportes La Serena's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gomez Ayo ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Peter Sardaneta managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Navarro Valdero scored 1-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Prudentio Telaeche, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 57 minutes into the match, Mark Diaz de León notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Club Deportivo Santiago's Leandro Candina. Leandro Candina was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 61 played minutes Club Deportivo Santiago got a freekick which was hit by Urtzi Ribas. Prudentio Telaeche showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Navarro Valdero in the 66th minute of the match. Mark Diaz de León who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Leandro Candina when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Club Deportes La Serena getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Xabel Doursther hit a great ball. In the 76th match minute, Club Deportes La Serena was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albin Pumaraboli to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Navarro Valdero in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Prudentio Telaeche saved Club Deportes La Serena from getting behind. After some careless play in the Club Deportivo Santiago defense, Mark Diaz de León kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leandro Candina. The Club Deportivo Santiago fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leandro Candina should have stopped the shot. When Ermegildo Gutiérrez fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Deportes La Serena's protests and gave Ermegildo Gutiérrez a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Club Deportes La Serena getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ermegildo Gutiérrez hit a great ball. Prudentio Telaeche made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gomez Ayo in the 91st minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Club Deportes La Serena eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
