An unexpectedly hard shot by Valentin Valiente in the 19th minute of play forced Real Madrid de America's goalkeeper Rudolf Crosby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rudolf Crosby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valentin Valiente, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Caleb Aragon fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Madrid de America's protests and gave Caleb Aragon a yellow card for diving instead. Caleb Aragon hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Sheldon Howell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Pedro Artigue managed to get in a good position for a shot.
