The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Sabaneta FC's Clemente Ruy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruyman Amenábar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The supporters of Tabalongo AFC booed when Sabaneta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Ruy didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Sabaneta FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yoel Prado came free, but Lautaro Estebanez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, one of Sabaneta FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sabaneta FC. Sabaneta FC:s Lautaro Estebanez showed great skill when he stopped Teobaldo Orellana:s penalty. If Flavio Orden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Sabaneta FC's Aarón Camargo got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Sabaneta FC's Lautaro Estebanez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yoel Prado in the 26th minute of play. After 27 played minutes Sabaneta FC got a freekick which was hit by Aarón Camargo. If Clemente Ruy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teobaldo Orellana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Tabalongo AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sabaneta FC were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Raul Clavell made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tabalongo AFC's goalkeeper Ruyman Amenábar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Raul Clavell was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Sabaneta FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 59 minutes into the match, Teobaldo Orellana notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Sabaneta FC's Lautaro Estebanez.
