A very good chance. 19 minutes into the game, Irving Robles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Rene Mesen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Jonny Chaverri's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Freddy Sancho was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind HEREDIA 400's goalkeeper Rene Mesen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. HEREDIA 400's Rene Mesen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irving Robles in the 53rd minute of play. Rene Mesen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Gomez went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Jaco AFC's zone, Jonny Chaverri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freddy Sancho came out of the goal and Jonny Chaverri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Irving Robles came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Jaco AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Irving Robles couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mariano Gomez during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Jaco AFC's Mariano Gomez got a free kick in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Jaco AFC's goalkeeper Freddy Sancho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Virgilio Ruiz.
