In the 3rd minute, Jesus Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abel Sanchez charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abel Sanchez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th minute of the match Jorge Guerrero shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rene Mesen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Antonio Redondo sped through HEREDIA 400's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rene Mesen. After 13 played minutes HEREDIA 400 got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Herrera. 16 minutes into the match, Porve FC's Antonio Redondo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rene Mesen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, HEREDIA 400's Virgilio Ruiz got a free kick in the 19th minute. Rene Mesen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonio Redondo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 22nd minute, Leon Amador got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 23rd minute Antonio Redondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Mesen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in HEREDIA 400's zone, Leon Amador stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rene Mesen came out of the goal and Leon Amador tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Clodomiro Orozco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonny Chaverri in the 29th minute of the match. HEREDIA 400's Jonny Chaverri got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Amador in the 46th minute of play forced HEREDIA 400's goalkeeper Rene Mesen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, HEREDIA 400's Abel Sanchez got a free kick in the 47th minute. In the 50th minute Porve FC were awarded a corner. Jorge Guerrero went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of HEREDIA 400's goalie and right to Olman Rosabal. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. HEREDIA 400's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After the first half Porve FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jonny Chaverri made a kick off. In the 58th match minute, HEREDIA 400 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Hidalgo to maneuver through the defense. Antonio Redondo in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rene Mesen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Porve FC's Antonio Redondo got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Clodomiro Orozco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonny Chaverri in the 78th minute of the match. Jonny Chaverri struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Clodomiro Orozco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for HEREDIA 400. Clodomiro Orozco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Virgilio Ruiz went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Julio Ulloa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rene Mesen. HEREDIA 400's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jonny Chaverri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Clodomiro Orozco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
