After the first half Isla Iguana F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

During this time Niupi FC's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Leonidas García heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 54th minute, one of Isla Iguana F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Isla Iguana F.C.. Alex Arauz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raul Murillo having to interfere.
