Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Steeleville AFC's Nicholas Winter started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lathrop's Marcellus Tran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicholas Winter in the 4th minute of play. In the 6th minute Young Fletcher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcellus Tran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Lathrop booed when Steeleville AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Young Fletcher didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute of the match Owen Benitez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcellus Tran skillfully saved the ball. Marcellus Tran showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Young Fletcher in the 16th minute of the match. Nicholas Winter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Marcellus Tran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicholas Winter in the 23rd minute of play forced Lathrop's goalkeeper Marcellus Tran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lathrop's Marcellus Tran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Young Fletcher in the 25th minute of play. Marcellus Tran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicholas Winter, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Nicholas Winter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicholas Winter might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcellus Tran. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicholas Winter ran back to his position shaking his head. Steeleville AFC's Nicholas Winter got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 48th minute of the match Owen Benitez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcellus Tran showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dominic Thomson was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Steeleville AFC's zone, Dominic Thomson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christopher Ortiz came out of the goal and Dominic Thomson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steeleville AFC's Nicholas Winter got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute, Chance Hooper hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Lucien Hunter fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lathrop's protests and gave Lucien Hunter a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Lathrop getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Lucien Hunter hit a great ball. Nicholas Winter might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcellus Tran. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicholas Winter ran back to his position shaking his head. If Nicholas Winter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute, Nicholas Winter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nicholas Winter struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Marcellus Tran didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steeleville AFC. After some careless play in the Lathrop defense, Young Fletcher kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcellus Tran. The Lathrop fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcellus Tran should have stopped the shot. Steeleville AFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
