In the 5th minute Houston Vickers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew Page saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandy Burton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Drew Page tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Solomon Eddy's late challenge caught a South Santa Rosa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Solomon Eddy helped the player get up and apologised. Drew Page went to the wrong direction when Sandy Burton was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The supporters of Preston FC booed when South Santa Rosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurelio Hopson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tyson Garrison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Drew Page showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Houston Vickers, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. A wasted opportunity for South Santa Rosa. 32 minutes into the game, Brendon Barbour recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Steven Stallings. Brendon Barbour showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Steven Stallings made an important save on a dangerous shot by Neal Fulton in the 35th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Houston Vickers in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Drew Page prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

Steven Stallings came out of the goal and Neal Fulton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brendon Barbour might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Steven Stallings. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
