But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcellus Cross couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Connecticut FC defense, Shaun Arredondo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Shayne Herrera. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The Connecticut FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. 78 minutes into the match, Connecticut FC's goalkeeper Shayne Herrera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Richie Yeager. In the 85th minute Cristobal Parnell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wim Dagelet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Shayne Herrera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keenan Barth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd match minute, Carbondale FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simon Knowles to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcellus Cross in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wim Dagelet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Connecticut FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
