The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Darnell Galindo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 5 minutes into the match, Cloquet's Ernie Peachey sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Louis Youngblood narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A hard shot 9 in the game by Sonny Townsend from a close distance when the talented Berry Sadler managed to make a qualified save. Cloquet's players were relieved. 11 minutes into the match, Cloquet's goalkeeper Berry Sadler had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sonny Townsend. After a defensive mix-up in Glenside AFC's zone, Gregg Campos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Louis Youngblood came out of the goal and Gregg Campos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 14 played minutes Glenside AFC got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo Rojas. Louis Youngblood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregg Campos, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Art Abraham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Sonny Townsend had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Gregg Campos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Louis Youngblood was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, Glenside AFC's Art Abraham sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Berry Sadler narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Gregg Campos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Glenside AFC's Brock Nickerson got a free kick in the 36th minute. Ernie Peachey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Louis Youngblood having to make a save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernie Peachey made a kick off. Sonny Townsend received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Berry Sadler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 54 played minutes Glenside AFC got a freekick which was hit by Brock Nickerson. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tracy Grossman during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cloquet's Tracy Grossman got a free kick in the 58th minute. Sonny Townsend received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Berry Sadler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tracy Grossman hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Berry Sadler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Art Abraham in the 64th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Cloquet's Frank Barajas got a free kick in the 65th minute. Glenside AFC's Art Abraham got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, Cloquet's Gregg Campos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Louis Youngblood narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sonny Townsend might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Berry Sadler. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sonny Townsend ran back to his position shaking his head. Art Abraham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Glenside AFC's Louis Youngblood proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Glenside AFC from getting a goal against them. Berry Sadler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Art Abraham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sonny Townsend recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Sonny Townsend's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Berry Sadler was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. Frank Barajas charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frank Barajas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Glenside AFC booed when Cloquet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Barajas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Berry Sadler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sonny Townsend in the 93rd minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cloquet eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
