Lucien Kerns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Newell having to interfere. 33 minutes into the match, Winston Roth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harry Walden. C. A. Ituzaingó's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Winston Roth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Lucien Kerns recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 45th minute Dallas Elmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Newell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Harry Walden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sydney Call, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dallas Elmore stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
