The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jarvis Katz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Patrick Newell. Valley Falls AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sydney Call received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Garth Gomez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basil Shipley hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. If Sydney Call had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, River Poker's Basil Shipley got a free kick in the 20th minute. Jospeh Isaac's late challenge caught a Valley Falls AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jospeh Isaac helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Valley Falls AFC booed when River Poker was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jospeh Isaac didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the game, Winston Roth lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Garth Gomez. In the 30th minute Gary Sanderson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Newell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, River Poker's Jonah Crozier got a free kick in the 31st minute. Sydney Call might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Garth Gomez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sydney Call ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sydney Call got free with Garth Gomez in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gary Sanderson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Garth Gomez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Call in the 56th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in River Poker's zone, Sydney Call stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Garth Gomez came out of the goal and Sydney Call tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sydney Call fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garth Gomez having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Valley Falls AFC's goalkeeper Patrick Newell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gary Sanderson. Jonah Crozier might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patrick Newell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonah Crozier ran back to his position shaking his head. Charles Ponce hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Winston Roth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Garth Gomez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Winston Roth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The River Poker players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Valley Falls AFC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
