The referee showed Alistair Manley the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Jim Thorpe United's Spencer Romo got a free kick in the 17th minute. If Sid Aldrich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st match minute, Jim Thorpe United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Fairchild to maneuver through the defense. After 23 minutes, Rigoberto Jolly mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newton Falls and the Jim Thorpe United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Newton Falls's Rigoberto Jolly got a free kick in the 23rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adrian Dickson in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eric Browne saved Newton Falls from getting behind. With a little luck, Jim Thorpe United's Winford Chandler got control of the ball when Oscar Paris tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sid Aldrich in the 30th minute of play forced Jim Thorpe United's goalkeeper Winford Chandler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stewart Rios's late challenge caught a Newton Falls's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stewart Rios helped the player get up and apologised. After 37 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Jim Thorpe United! The referee gave Newton Falls a penalty, 38 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ramon Crane, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Jim Thorpe United's Winford Chandler. 1-0. After 43 played minutes, Newton Falls's Ramon Crane shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Winford Chandler came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Newton Falls reached it. In the 44th minute, Jim Thorpe United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sid Aldrich fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sid Aldrich made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Oscar Paris ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Winford Chandler was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Winford Chandler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sid Aldrich in the 60th minute of play. If Jeffrey Myers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Jim Thorpe United booed when Newton Falls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alistair Manley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Winford Chandler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sid Aldrich, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adrian Dickson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeffrey Myers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eric Browne read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. Jeffrey Myers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Browne having to interfere. Alistair Manley kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Jeffrey Myers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Eric Browne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Jim Thorpe United's Jeffrey Myers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eric Browne narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Newton Falls's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
