FC Motagua's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfred Courtney was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Federal Way's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Motagua the free kick. A collision led to Federal Way getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Roland Payne hit a great ball. With 14 minutes on the clock, Darron Sito commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Motagua! When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, Federal Way's Noah MacDowell got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Sanford Benjamin. Devon Swanson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Sanford Benjamin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Federal Way's goalkeeper Chris Singletary, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolf Cooper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Singletary having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Federal Way's zone, Wilfred Courtney stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chris Singletary came out of the goal and Wilfred Courtney tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chris Singletary made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garrett Frey in the 41st minute of play. Ramiro Maurer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The wind increased when Devon Swanson made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Wilfred Courtney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Motagua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilfred Courtney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ramiro Maurer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, FC Motagua's Rolf Cooper got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When Wilfred Courtney got free in front of the goal in the 67th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Chris Singletary was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 68 minutes, Rory Doty mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Federal Way and the FC Motagua players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rory Doty hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. If Wilfred Courtney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Federal Way's Chris Singletary got control of the ball when Wilfred Courtney tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 75th minute, Garrett Frey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Federal Way's Rory Doty got a free kick in the 76th minute. After 82 minutes, Leland Cordero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Motagua and the Federal Way players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 87th minute, Rory Doty had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Garrett Frey's late challenge caught a Federal Way's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Garrett Frey helped the player get up and apologised. After 88 played minutes FC Motagua got a freekick which was hit by Garrett Frey. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Federal Way.
