Devoto Shores FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave corndog the free kick. Dennis Grimes helped the player get up and apologised. 33 minutes into the match, corndog's Terrell Harris broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dante Mason in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Trevor Marin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in corndog's zone, Willie Browne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Derick Lamb came out of the goal and Willie Browne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 43rd minute Dante Mason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trevor Marin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Willie Browne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 57th minute, Stephan Suggs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 58th minute, one of corndog:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for corndog. During the 69th minute of the match Dennis Grimes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dennis Grimes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 70th match minute, Devoto Shores FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis Grimes to maneuver through the defense. Derick Lamb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willie Browne in the 76th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, corndog's Dante Mason sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Trevor Marin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dante Mason fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trevor Marin having to interfere. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind corndog's goalkeeper Derick Lamb, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jonas Horn hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Derick Lamb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Willie Browne in the 93rd minute of play. If Willie Browne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. corndog's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
