A collision led to Club Atletico Peñarol getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Reggie Ewing hit a great ball. Riverside's Charles Lopez was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lane Bacon in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 13 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Cason Cedillo came free, but Lane Bacon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Derrick Goldstein charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Derrick Goldstein the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 14th minute, Derrick Goldstein hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Shawn Chavez was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Eric Schaffer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. With a little luck, Riverside's Shawn Chavez got control of the ball when Quincy Koenig tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lane Bacon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Derrick Goldstein, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute, Cason Cedillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cason Cedillo to make the kick off. In the 96th minute of the match Charles Lopez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lane Bacon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Club Atletico Peñarol's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
