The Montesa de Lugo fans' excitement grew in the 8th match minute when Montesa de Lugo's Alfredo Quinn looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Darryl Califf was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 12 minutes into the match. 11 minutes into the game, one of Montesa de Lugo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 13 minutes, Mathews AFC's Sylvester Todd got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Zachariah Quintana. 18 minutes into the match, Montesa de Lugo's goal looked a bit too open when Reyes Edmondson came free, but Zachariah Quintana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Quinn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ethan Frey having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Quinn in the 22nd minute of play forced Mathews AFC's goalkeeper Ethan Frey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Montesa de Lugo's goal looked a bit too open when Francis Flaherty came free, but Zachariah Quintana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harvey Cho in the 26th minute of play forced Montesa de Lugo's goalkeeper Zachariah Quintana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo Quinn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ethan Frey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Ethan Frey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Quinn in the 29th minute of the match. 37 minutes into the match, Montesa de Lugo's goalkeeper Zachariah Quintana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cason Parks. After 38 played minutes Montesa de Lugo got a freekick which was hit by Bennett Aaron. Montesa de Lugo's Zachariah Quintana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harvey Cho in the 40th minute of play. With a little luck, Montesa de Lugo's Zachariah Quintana got control of the ball when Cason Parks tried to sneak it across the goal line. Phillip Benitez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredo Quinn to make the kick off. Montesa de Lugo's Alfredo Quinn got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Mathews AFC from getting a goal against them. 61 minutes into the game, Elton Rowan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ethan Frey was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 66 minutes, Alfredo Quinn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montesa de Lugo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Quinn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ethan Frey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Phillip Benitez in the 68th minute. When Alfredo Quinn came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Montesa de Lugo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Quinn couldn't finish the play. After having played for 72 minutes, Bennett Aaron managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montesa de Lugo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bennett Aaron was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zachariah Quintana didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Francis Flaherty went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 85th minute Reyes Edmondson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zachariah Quintana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Mathews AFC from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice moves Alfredo Quinn could shoot a difficult shot in the 92nd minute, which Ethan Frey however easily saved by the left post. With a little luck, Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey got control of the ball when Alfredo Quinn tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Bennett Aaron came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Montesa de Lugo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bennett Aaron couldn't finish the play.
