Spectators: 7961 (Terracing: 5972, Seating: 1831, VIP seats: 158) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bill Muller started the match with the kick off. Mitch Vasquez kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 5th minute, Austin McClelland sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and La Joya's Ethan Healy didn't even have to move. When Clay Ruiz fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Woods Cross's protests and gave Clay Ruiz a yellow card for diving instead. After 8 played minutes Woods Cross got a freekick which was hit by Clay Ruiz. Bo Saunders hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Devin Coley managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Joya's supporters rose to their feet, but Devin Coley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ken Darby breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bill Muller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute, Art Yeager hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 30 minutes into the game, Woods Cross's Jerold Steele nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ethan Healy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Austin Benedict sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Devin Coley in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ken Darby prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Devin Coley's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ken Darby was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. If Mitch Vasquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Devin Coley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ken Darby having to make a save. In the 42ndth minute of the game Austin Benedict who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Woods Cross's Ken Darby was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ken Darby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Devin Coley, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Austin Benedict made the kick off in the second half. Ken Darby was a little too slow when Devin Coley got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 55th minute, Devin Coley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg Ken Darby managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when La Joya's Austin Benedict fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With an all-out effort, La Joya's Ken Darby threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Austin Benedict, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ken Darby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Austin Benedict, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 65 minutes, Parker Starnes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Woods Cross and the La Joya players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bill Muller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
