Vaughn Shipman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sterling McDonough in the 11th minute of the match. If Sterling McDonough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aidan Kirkpatrick came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Racing de Carolina's Octavio Connors. But to his dismay, Octavio Connors quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Anton Romo might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vaughn Shipman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anton Romo ran back to his position shaking his head. Dalton Klein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Octavio Connors managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing de Carolina's supporters rose to their feet, but Octavio Connors was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aidan Kirkpatrick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 35th minute, Asher Fair hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anton Romo in the 42nd minute of play forced Racing de Carolina's goalkeeper Vaughn Shipman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Octavio Hines made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Sterling McDonough managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nueva Villa FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sterling McDonough was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vaughn Shipman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 62 minutes into the match, Racing de Carolina's Octavio Connors sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aidan Kirkpatrick narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aidan Kirkpatrick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalton Klein in the 63rd minute of play. The supporters of Nueva Villa FC booed when Racing de Carolina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brandon Gill didn't get a good kick on the ball. When John Stein came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Racing de Carolina fans jumped to their feet.
