Dennis Lyle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Tyler Randolph charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tyler Randolph the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 28 played minutes San Diego Lightning got a freekick which was hit by Tyler Randolph. After a defensive mix-up in San Diego Lightning's zone, Arnoldo Dorsey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dennis Lyle came out of the goal and Arnoldo Dorsey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Club Internacional Miami getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Stevie Roth hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, San Diego Lightning's Tyler Randolph got a free kick in the 39th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Waldo Means made the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Von Garland left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Internacional Miami fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Von Garland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Dennis Lyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Von Garland struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Dennis Lyle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Internacional Miami. In the 67th match minute, Club Internacional Miami was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robbie Felton to maneuver through the defense. Dennis Lyle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Von Garland in the 71st minute of the match. The supporters of San Diego Lightning booed when Club Internacional Miami was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robby Dugan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, San Diego Lightning's Dominic Goode got a free kick in the 74th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Arnoldo Dorsey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Internacional Miami's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnoldo Dorsey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dennis Lyle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
