Anton Romo in the 13thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dennis Lyle, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Aidan Kirkpatrick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldo Means, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes into the match, San Diego Lightning's goal looked a bit too open when Anton Romo came free, but Dennis Lyle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Morgan Goldsmith in the 24th minute of play forced San Diego Lightning's goalkeeper Dennis Lyle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dennis Lyle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anton Romo in the 28th minute of play. When Anton Romo came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Nueva Villa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anton Romo couldn't finish the play. In the 35thth minute of the game Anton Romo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but San Diego Lightning's Dennis Lyle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 42 minutes into the game, Asher Fair was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nueva Villa FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San Diego Lightning the free kick. In the 42nd match minute, Nueva Villa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Asher Fair to maneuver through the defense. Sterling McDonough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Lyle having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Waldo Means made the kick off in the second half. Grady Boyer kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. San Diego Lightning's Cristobal Titus got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dennis Lyle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sterling McDonough in the 60th minute of play. Cristobal Titus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Aidan Kirkpatrick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anton Romo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kristofer Dale's late challenge caught a San Diego Lightning's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kristofer Dale helped the player get up and apologised. Kristofer Dale kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Sterling McDonough took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dennis Lyle. Dennis Lyle dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Sterling McDonough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Lyle having to interfere. Anton Romo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Nueva Villa FC booed when San Diego Lightning was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilfredo Culver didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute Sterling McDonough shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Lyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Nueva Villa FC fully deserved thier win.
