In the 4thth minute of the game Armando Canal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guzmán's Jorge Decoux was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Armando Canal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Decoux having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Guzmán's Santiago Villagómez got a free kick in the 7th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Guzmán's zone, Armando Canal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Decoux came out of the goal and Armando Canal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jorge Decoux took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Canal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 1-0 became the score in the 15th minute when Armando Canal elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Guzmán's goal looked a bit too open when Fidel Ramirez came free, but Jorge Decoux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 2-0 became the score in the 19th minute when Armando Canal elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Guzmán's zone, Fidel Ramirez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Decoux came out of the goal and Fidel Ramirez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Armando Canal received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jorge Decoux came out and tried to block the shot, but Armando Canal slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 28th minute. Jorge Decoux made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Canal in the 32nd minute of play. Jorge Decoux showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Mena in the 34th minute of the match. Armando Canal had several of the Guzmán's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 41 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 5-0 score and a disappointed Jorge Decoux as he didn't even see the shot coming. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Armando Canal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Guzmán's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Canal came free, but Jorge Decoux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fidel Ramirez in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Decoux prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bonifacio Mosquera got free with Blas Almeyda in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 55 minutes, Armando Canal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlantico FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armando Canal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 57 minutes into the game, Gustavo Ojeda cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Jorge Decoux was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Guzmán's zone, Fidel Ramirez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The supporters of Guzmán booed when Atlantico FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando Canal didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fidel Ramirez in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Decoux saved Guzmán from getting behind. In the 94th minute Armando Canal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Decoux saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
