To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alma AFC's Eloy Bateman got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Eloy Bateman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Ladner FC's goal looked a bit too open when Elbert Allain came free, but Ernesto Bolduc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th match minute, Alma AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Quick to maneuver through the defense. Dion Escobar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stan Clayton having to interfere. A collision led to Ladner FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Marius Soucy hit a great ball. 34 minutes into the match, Ladner FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eloy Bateman came free, but Ernesto Bolduc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Douglass Maxwell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Stan Clayton made a huge save. When Ulrich Hinson fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alma AFC's protests and gave Ulrich Hinson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 43rd minute, Ulrich Hinson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eloy Bateman was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elbert Allain got free with Ernesto Bolduc in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eloy Bateman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ernesto Bolduc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dion Escobar in the 62nd minute of play forced Alma AFC's goalkeeper Stan Clayton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ladner FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dion Escobar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stan Clayton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Douglass Maxwell came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Ladner FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Douglass Maxwell couldn't finish the play. Alma AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
